MHRM 6110 + Week 4

Personal Blog:
1) Do you believe leadership development should be primarily a human resource function?
Leadership is very important because it determines peer, group or social influences at work. Good leadership thus helps the organization and each department to function well in accordance to following protocols, rules, and guidelines. Leadership is one of the main functions of human resources because it is part of HR strategy. HR strategy ensures good returns, investments, and profits. I think leadership should be maintained on every department. Leaders appointed should lead the team and its subordinates to ensure that rules and regulations are followed.
HR leaders thus understand the need to foster high performance and they must assess about the organization’s need. In doing so, objectives can be reached and met accordingly. The role of the team should also maintain and follow the purpose of the organization in which it also a part of team’s success. It is also critical that the team’s cooperation to follow what their duties and obligations.
2) Identify an example that validates your reasoning.
As a Sutter employee in the medical field, the organization has many leaders in each department. Departments may include nursing, social workers, dietician, therapist, and environmental field. Leaders in each department have an essential role that subordinates must follow. Leaders should also act as role models and must be able to intervene and make critical decisions toward any difficult decision. Leaders that have strong leadership skills always have the meaning to help the organization to advance and succeed.

MHRM 6110+Week 2

Are employee referrals a good recruiting source? What might keep you from referring friends and/or acquaintances for a position at an organization where you work?
Employee referrals can be a small tool to recruiting potential employees however, we still have to go within the HR standards of assessing their Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics (KSAO) because they still need to be screen. Moreover, aside from KSAO are other federal steps needed to accomplish such as fingerprinting, license background verification, and drug testing. The think the keeps me from referring someone at my present work is that all applicants need to go online and fill an application. If there is an opening, applicants will be screened.
What are some primary differences between new workforce entrants, unemployed workers, and currently employed workers? How can organizations best recruit these different types of job seekers?
New workforce entrants are those new graduates that their skills and learning might be better than workers. Unemployed workers are without current job positions whereas currently employed workers are experience workers. Organization can best recruit different types of applicants through making job analysis and what requirements, education, experience, background qualifications, and other attributes that one posses.
Identify one organization you believe does a good job of recruiting talent. Provide two examples of their recruiting strategies to support your answer.
Sutter organization does a good job in recruiting because many times that I referred someone to my supervisor and were not accepted because of lack of experience. I think that they go by how the requirements of the job is set up in the hiring process. Two examples of recruiting strategies include education background and 2 or more years of experience in the related field.
